What is Sport and P.E. Premium?
In April 2013, the Government announced new funding of £150 million for physical education (PE) and sport. This funding should be used to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision.
Funding will be allocated to all maintained and state-funded schools with primary phase pupils, including: primary, middle, special and non-maintained special schools, academies and pupil referral units from 1 September 2013. A typical primary school will receive about £9,250 annually in the academic years 2013/14 and 2014/15.
Schools are free to determine how best to use this funding to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision, including increasing participation in PE and sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.
At the beginning of the academic year we completed a self-review of our P.E. and sport provision, highlighting areas of strength and aspects that could be improved. This self-review will be completed at the end of each year to enable us to continually target aspects of our P.E delivery which could be improved further.
Our school recognises the important role P.E and Sport can play in developing children’s self-esteem, physical literacy and physical, social and mental health. We intend to continually self-evaluate our P.E and Sports delivery to ensure the Funding allocated embeds School life in a sustainable manner.
Reporting Sport Premium
It is the responsibility of the governors to explain Sport and P.E. Funding expenditure to parents in the form of an annual statement. The Governing body has a nominated Governor who takes responsibility for expecting regular updates from Senior Leaders and monitoring and challenging the use of the funding on pupil impact.
